Teeth whitening (also called teeth bleaching) works by using specially formulated dental whitening gel to lift old stains caused by tea, coffee, wine and smoking to bring back the ‘white’ shade of your natural teeth. It is often combined with restorative and cosmetic dentistry to lighten natural teeth and match the shade of cosmetic dental veneers or crowns.

At-home Teeth Whitening

Our take-home teeth whitening system includes a set of mouth trays and professional whitening gel solution. The patient wears the trays filled with the whitening gel 2-3 times a week for about 30 minutes. (We suggest wearing the trays while watching your favorite TV show.) Most patients will see their teeth lighten by several shades after just a few applications.

Deep Teeth Bleaching

Some teeth stains are more difficult to remove; long-term use of medications, especially during early childhood, can create dark, deep staining. In this case, we do have a more extensive smile whitening process that may be used to lighten embedded stains in tooth enamel.

After you have reached your desired tooth shade, you can maintain your whitening with regular dental cleanings and wearing the gel-filled trays occasionally for touch-up bleaching.
